Apple has finally scrapped plans to release AirPower wireless charging. Popular blogger and network insider Jon Prosser announced this in his Twitter account.
Sources of the blogger got acquainted with the schedule of testing Apple products for 2021. According to them, the company removed all AirPower prototypes from the list and canceled sample testing. Prosser's sources said they doubted the American corporation would ever release an accessory to wirelessly charge multiple devices at the same time. “It looks like AirPower has been buried again,” said the author.
In the comments under Prosser's publication, they recalled a post by an insider LeaksApplePro, who said on October 26 that Apple was considering options to revive AirPower. The author noted that, most likely, the charger will be released in September 2021. In response to the comment, Prosser said he doubted the credibility of the leak and his colleague's sources.
At the end of March 2019, Apple announced that it had closed the project for its wireless charger. Representatives of the corporation explained that the development of the product failed to achieve "high Apple standards." The AirPower charging accessory was first announced during the launch of the iPhone X in September 2017.
