Apple sold a billion iPhones

Apple has sold over a billion of its smartphones. This was stated by analyst Neil Cybart in the material for the blog Above Avalon.

Cybart estimates the one billion user mark was passed in September. “13 years after its launch, the iPhone remains the most popular and best-selling smartphone,” the specialist noted. In his opinion, Apple's competitors either shamelessly copy the innovations of the American manufacturer, or at least are under its influence.

The author said that iPhone sales have grown markedly over the past two years. At the same time, over the past 12 months, sales of Apple smartphones have fallen by about 12 percent - from 218 to 191 million units. The specialist believes that sales statistics in pieces cannot fully characterize the business of Tim Cook's company . "Longer iPhone refresh cycle could be a leading factor in declining sales," Cybart concluded.

The article also reports that the percentage of new iPhone users who switched to the device from Android devices is steadily declining. At the same time, the company annually attracts from 20 to 30 million users to the Apple ecosystem. Neil Seabart expects that by the end of fiscal 2020, that figure will hit a record high with new users at less than 20 percent of total iPhone sales.

Earlier it became known that smartphones of the iPhone 12 series were popular in Russia. Representatives of retailers and telecom operators said that almost all the devices of the first batch were sold out in a few days. The report says the iPhone 12 Pro in Pacific Blue is the most requested device.
