Based on data for the first quarter of 2020, it turned out that the most popular device in the segment of devices with support for fifth generation communications was the Samsung Galaxy S20 + 5G. This device accounted for nine percent of the total revenue from the 5G smartphone market. It is noted that the gadget was in demand in the markets of Western Europe, South Korea and North America. The second position with a share of eight percent is occupied by the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra 5G, the third with an indicator of five percent - the Samsung Galaxy S20 5G.


Also in the top 5 were Huawei P40 Pro 5G and Huawei Mate 30 5G. The flagships of the Chinese company each brought in just under five percent of total revenue. Experts said the reason for Samsung's leadership in the ranking was the fact that the company offered a wide range of devices. Hit the top of Huawei smartphones was explained by the enormous popularity that the devices enjoy in the home market.


At the same time, the head of Strategy Analytics Ken Hyers said that in the second half of the year the market situation will change: "We expect that the hegemony of Samsung and Huawei will weaken Apple ." According to the specialist, it is only a matter of time before the new Apple smartphones with 5G support will gain popularity.


Samsung, which is actively launching next-generation smartphones to the market, introduced the Samsung A42 5G device in mid-October . The model is the most budgetary in its segment, its price was 455 dollars. Previously, the most affordable smartphone on the market was the Galaxy A51 5G.
