Tesla has officially announced the Model 3 electric vehicle update for American consumers and has unveiled the updated 2021 Tesla Model 3. Earlier it was reported that Tesla plans to include several new features in the update, as well as improve the efficiency of the electric vehicle systems.
Tesla vehicles are updated in a slightly different way from the traditional auto industry. In addition to making changes to design and technical parameters, Tesla developers attach great importance to software updates over the air. As a result, the model of 2021 in terms of external parameters practically does not differ from the original model that appeared three years ago.
The main improvements in the 2021 model are the increase in autonomous driving range and the installation of a heat pump. The Model 3Long Range Dual Motor modification gets an autonomous mileage increased to 568 km (+ 48 km) on a single battery charge (according to the American EPA cycle). The electric vehicle of the Tesla Model 3 Standard Range Plus modification increased its autonomy by 21 km to 423 km, and the Tesla Model 3 Performance model - by 26 km to 507 km. The 2021 Tesla Model 3 will also be more responsive and the 0-60 mph (96 km / h) acceleration for the Model 3 Performance will drop by one tenth of a second, to 3.1 seconds.
Along with the changes in autonomous mileage and speed parameters, the following updates are implemented in the Tesla Model 3: the center console with a matte finish and a chrome-trimmed frame is divided into two sectors, the steering wheel has received a heating system and an updated metal trim, the rear tailgate is equipped with an electric drive.
Also, the Tesla Model 3 will have new double glass windows, updated low beam headlights and rear dimensions. Tesla has completely revamped the Model 3 wheel range, refining the 18 "and 19" wheel designs, and adding new 20 "Uberturbine wheels to the sedan. As with the Model Y, the Model 3 did away with the perimeter chrome. The developers have returned the auto-dimming mirror for the 2021 Model 3.
Production of the 2021 Model 3 has already been in progress at the Fremont, California plant for several weeks. However, so far, electric vehicles of the 2021 modification have been produced for overseas markets. The updated car will now be sold domestically as well.
At the same time, Tesla announced the release of the next firmware 2020.40.7 for Model Y, Model S and Model X, which provided another increase in the autonomous driving range of cars, without changing the battery capacity. From now on, the Tesla Model Y in the Long Range Dual Motor modification receives a travel range on a single battery charge - 523 km (previously 508 km), and the Tesla Model Y Performance modification - 488 km (previously 468 km).
The Tesla Model X Long Range Dual Motor electric car will be able to cover 597 km (previously 565 km) without recharging, and the Tesla Model X Performance - 549 km (previously 491 km). The Model S Performance has increased its travel range by 63 km from 560 km to 623 km.
