Samsung has announced its first 5nm Exynos 1080 chip

Samsung has introduced a new mid-range chip, the Exynos 1080. It is the first in the company's lineup to feature 5nm EUV FinFET technology. The chip is the successor to the Exynos 980 with an integrated 5G modem.


The chip consists of four Cortex-A78 and four Cortex-A55 cores. One of the first four operates at 2.8 GHz, the other three - at 2.6 GHz. The second four cores are overclocked to 2 GHz. The Mali-G78 MP10 acts as a graphics accelerator.


The new chip will support a camera up to 200 megapixels in resolution and 4K video recording at 60 frames per second. He also received support for RAM standards LPDDR4x and LPDDR5 and is capable of operating at a screen frequency of 144 Hz at Full HD resolution.


The first smartphones based on Exynos 1080 will hit the market in early 2021. The pioneer will be a smartphone from vivo.
